Welcome to The Hound Haven

Our training approach:

Lead trainer and owner Peggy McCarty is committed to positive reinforcement training methods. Our training philosophy and behavioral modification techniques are based on scientific principles of animal learning theory.  We use reward based, dog friendly, cruelty free methods to help you and your dog become successful.  

We believe that training should be fun for both the humans and the dogs. Positive training methods provide a fun platform, that not only teaches your dog effectively and efficiently but helps to build a lifelong trusting relationship with your dog.   

Dog Walking:

Weather you just need to have your dog go out for daily exercise or you are looking for specific training on nice leash walking, The Hound Haven is here to help. Dogs who are already "savvy" walkers are eligible for group walks or if you prefer private one on one walks.

If your dog thinks a walk means dragging you down the street, we can work privately with your dog to teach them to walk nicely on a loose leash. These skills can then be transfered to you so that walking is enjoyable for both you and your dog.

Regardless of your dogs current walking skills; all walks incorporate fun, the ever important exercise and positive reinforcement training along the way.  

Pet Sitting:

The Hound Haven is happy to look after your pets when you are away. We look after them as if they were our own. Dogs receive daily walks, social time, meals and of course pottie breaks. We also enjoy looking after kitties. They get the same love and attention. Playtime, meals, socializing and litter box cleaning.
